Dr. Hudson Garrett is the President and CEO of Self Defense of Georgia, LLC. He is a Training Counselor, Certified Instructor, and Range Safety Officer for the USCCA and a Certified Instructor and Chief Range Safety Officer for the NRA. He is certified to teach the NRA programs of NRA Basic Pistol, NRA Rifle, NRA Basics of Home Firearm Safety, NRA CCW, NRA Range Safety Officer, NRA Refuse to Be a Victim, NRA Defensive Pistol, NRA Personal Protection Inside the Home, NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home Disciplines and the USCCA programs of USCCA Countering the Mass Shooter Threat, Emergency First Aid Fundamentals, LaserTrain, and Women’s Handgun & Self Defense Fundamentals Disciplines.

Dr. Garrett is a Certified NRA Chief Range Safety Officer and a USCCA Range Safety Officer. He holds graduate certificates in healthcare leadership from Cornell, George Washington University, Yale, and the University of Notre Dame. He is an appointed member of the national advisory committee for the Health and Safety Institute. Dr. Garrett is a member of the National Faculty Advisory Group for the Emergency Medical Patients: Assessment, Care, and Transport (EMPACT) and Health and Safety Institute. He holds specialty certifications in the areas of Armed Church Security Volunteer, Surviving the Active Shooter/Dangerous Intruder Incident, Reading Body Language, and Verbal and Physical De-escalation. He is a Certified Self-Defense Instructor with the American Sports and Fitness Association. He is a Certified Taser Civilian Trainer and also a COBRA Defense Certified Instructor. He is a Sabrered Personal Safety Academy Instructor. He is a Certified Situation Awareness Specialist and Certified Situation Awareness Specialist-Advanced Practitioner with the Arcuri Group, who is the global leader in situational awareness training and certification. Dr. Garrett is a graduate of The Complete Combatant's Deliberate Coaching and Image Based Decisional Drills Instructor Programs.

Dr. Garrett has over 15 years of teaching experience educating the community, public safety, firearms owners, and medical professionals in various life-saving techniques. He is a Wilderness Certified Emergency Medical Technician, a Licensed Emergency Medical Services Instructor with the Georgia Department Department of Public Health Officer or Emergency Medical Services and Trauma, and is a Nationally Certified Emergency Advanced Medical Technician. He is a Board-Certified Tactical Responder by the International Board of Specialty Certifications.
